  • Born in London, May 28, 1950
  • Began umpiring baseball at age 13; attended South Secondary School and Fanshawe College
  • Organized and reported on sporting activities at Fanshawe for both college media and the London Free Press
  • While at Fanshawe, he continued baseball umpiring and officiating hockey
  • Began his pro baseball umpiring career in 1972 when he graduated from umpiring school
  • Umpired in the Appalachian Rookie League, Class A Florida State League (1973) and the Double A Eastern League (1974, 1975)
  • In 1976 U.S. Immigration prevented non-Americans from working in minor league baseball; he returned home to umpire minor and senior amateur baseball and began working part-time at the Free Press
  • Obtained full-time position at the Free Press in 1976, where he worked for 36 years, retiring in 2011
  • Covered London Knights for 19 years, high school hockey for 10 years
  • Long-time umpire in the Senior Intercounty League
  • Provides umpire training for Baseball Ontario and Canada Baseball
  • Umpired at 5 senior world baseball championships, 4 junior championships, the World University Games, the 1988 Seoul Olympics
  • In 1990 was named International Baseball Federation Umpire of the Year
