Bill Farquharson was “Mr. Everything” in London sporting circles for three decades in 1940s, ’50s and ’60s. As recreation director he shaped many of the youth and adult programs that exist today. Scotland-born, established the London Majors as owner/president in 1944 and was instrumental in Majors winning 1948 National Baseball Congress North American championship. Manager/coach 1948 London Shamrocks Eastern Canada women’s basketball champions. Organized London Supremes women’s softball team Michigan-Ontario winners 1948. Set up playground Olympics held at Labatt Park. Respected basketball referee. Arena and community centre in old South named in his honour.
